Let Us Know You’re Out There!

Have you been watching as our community has gone from ‘a wonderful place to raise kids’ to a haven for grow-ops, crackhouses, prostitutes and crystal-meth labs? Is something inside you saying “Enough is enough…I won’t stand idly by anymore…”?

Then let us know who you are. Together we can make Abbotsford safe for families.

Local officials roll out red carpet for Sex Industry in Abbotsford
Describe group sex, masochism & anal sex workshops as “a lot of fun”...

Abbotsford

Tourism Abbotsford is bringing the “Taboo Sex Show” to the local Tradex facility this weekend, with the blessing and oversight of Abbotsford City Hall officials.

Featuring exotic dancers, seminars on group sex, masochism and oral sex workshops, the Taboo Sex Show is being marketed by Tourism Abbotsford as “a lot of fun!”.

And in a stunning move, Tourism Abbotsford has opted to hold the 4th annual Pet Expo alongside the Sex Show, in the same building, at the same time. An event geared toward families and kids, the Pet Expo is promising “free admittance to children under 5 years old.”

The City of Abbotsford owns the Tradex facility, and allows Tourism Abbotsford (a non-profit society which the City of Abbotsford is involved in) to operate it. According to a City of Abbotsford news release, 2007 was a “record-breaking year” and the Tradex facility is operating at 100% capacity.

Each year, Tradex is subsidized by the taxpayers of Abbotsford. In 2006, Tradex received a municipal tax exemption of more than $70,000.

Jay Teichroeb is City Hall’s representative responsible for Tourism in Abbotsford, serving on the board of directors and also serving as Economic Development Manager for Abbotsford.

“The officials at City Hall who are responsible for Tradex should be held accountable for this fiasco. They’re rolling out the red carpet for the sex trade to move into Abbotsford, and doing nothing to protect Abbotsford’s children from its harmful effects,” says Trish Kolsto, president of Abbotsford Families United. “We’re calling for City Council and Tourism Abbotsford to make a pledge to the residents of our city that they will never allow a Sex Show to be held in the Tradex facility again.”

Abbotsford Families United

A citizen’s action organization whose mission is to defend and promote traditional family values in the city of Abbotsford. To this end, we bring together families, individuals, churches, businesses and other organizations to provide a unified thrust in promoting these values, and become involved in the moral, cultural, and political issues that affect our city.

The following principles guide the issues we address on a municipal level:

  • We believe in policies which protect the inherent right and responsibility of parents in the raising and education of their children
  • We believe in policies which promote the maintenance and proliferation of traditional Judeo-Christian family and moral values in our city
  • We recognize the contribution of those with traditional faith-based values in the historical development of our city. We believe that this moral tradition is foundational to our city's future
  • We believe that the family, based on the marriage of a husband and wife of the opposite sex, is central to the fabric of our city
  • We believe that children are a heritage from God and a blessing from His hand
  • We believe that human life is of inestimable worth and significance in all its dimensions, including the unborn, the aged, the mentally handicapped, the physically challenged and every other condition of humanity, from conception to natural death

Non-partisan and non-denominational, Abbotsford Families United is incorporated as a not-for-profit national corporation under the Canada Corporations Act.
